Rewind or Get Wrecked: The ‘Victor’s Video Vault’ Demo Just Dropped

What’s good, Crusaders? Gabe here. Do you miss hitting up your local video rental store on a Friday night? Well, the team over at Stingbot Games is ready to take that cozy ’95 nostalgia and turn it into pure nightmare fuel.

They just dropped the debut demo for Victor’s Video Vault. You can grab that shit right now on PC via Steam.

This is not your basic, boring walking sim. It is a first-person horror game set in a reality-bending ‘90s VHS shop. You play as the lone employee. Your only goal is to survive a five-night closing shift. You know the drill: sweep up, lock the doors, and chill under the fluorescent lights while they last. But, there is a terrifying catch. When the last customer dips, the final tape to leave the shop literally rewrites reality.

This Shit is Wild

The environment actively shifts based on the movies left on the shelves. One minute you are sorting tapes. The next minute, alien hives drop from the ceiling. Or, the whole damn floor floods because someone rented a movie called “The Lagoon.”

The stylized pixel art in this game is straight-up FUEGO. In the demo that is out today, you get a taste of this atmospheric horror. You have to wade through some treacherous, murky waters. All while trying not to get drowned by an unearthly Lagoon Monster. You actually have to learn the logic behind each film to solve the environmental puzzles. Outwit these creepy creatures if you want to survive the night.

According to the developers, the story goes deep. You meet a character named Victor early on. However, you have to stay alive to figure out what his deal is. He is definitely hiding some major secrets. The demo gives you a solid dip into Story Mode. Plus, they are teasing an Archive Mode for the full release that shifts how you see the whole world.

The reality-warping mechanics are a wildly fresh take on survival horror. Honestly, the whole concept is FUEGO.

Be kind, rewind… and try not to get dragged to the bottom of the lagoon.

Head over to Steam to play the debut demo today. Hit the comments and let me know if you managed to survive your first shift without rage quitting!
