DON’T MOVE HITS THEATERS WITH A PREHISTORIC SPIDER AND SERIOUS CREATURE-FEATURE ENERGY

Crusaders, if you were planning a peaceful weekend in the woods, maybe save that idea for another time because DON’T MOVE has officially crawled into theaters!
The new independent creature-feature horror thriller from James “Murr” Murray’s Impractical Studios opens nationwide today after a grassroots rollout that hit New York, Kansas City, and Los Angeles. The film is playing in more than 520 theaters this weekend, which is a pretty serious push for an indie horror release built around one very simple promise: giant spider, bad decisions, and people who absolutely should have stayed home.
Based on Murray’s bestselling horror novel, DON’T MOVE was co-written and produced by the longtime Impractical Jokers star alongside director Maclain Nelson and writer Darren Wearmouth. The cast is loaded with recognizable faces, including Lyndsy Fonseca, Russell “Russ” Vitale, Hunter King, Joseph Lee Anderson, Tom Cavanagh, Rob Riggle, T-Pain, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Matt Biedel.
The setup is pure creature-feature fuel. A church group heads into the Ozark wilderness for its annual retreat, winds up in the wrong place, and quickly learns that something in the woods is hunting them. Suspicion initially falls on Ricky, the group’s resident troublemaker, but the real threat is much worse: a prehistoric arachnid hiding inside a maze of webs and hunting by vibration. That last part is where the title stops being cute.
When every movement can give away your location, survival becomes less about running and more about figuring out how not to become dinner. Fonseca’s Megan is left trying to keep the remaining group together while the creature closes in, and that gives the movie a nice old-school survival-horror hook. No multiverse. No cosmic mythology. Just a monster, a trapped group of people, and one very bad forest.
Murray and company have been pushing this release the hard way, taking the movie directly to audiences with premiere events, cast appearances, red-carpet stops, and fan engagement. That grassroots angle is worth paying attention to because horror has always thrived when filmmakers can turn a strong hook into word of mouth, and “prehistoric spider that hunts by vibration” is one hell of a hook.
DON’T MOVE is directed by Maclain Nelson and produced by James Murray, David M. Wulf, and Ethan Berman for Impractical Studios and Redline Entertainment.
The movie is now in theaters nationwide, and if spiders already make your skin crawl, congratulations. This one was built specifically to ruin your evening.
