WEPAAAAAAAA! HORROR CRUSADERS, YOU WANTED A HAUNTED HOUSE? HOW ABOUT ONE WHERE THE KILLERS DON’T CLOCK OUT AT CLOSING TIME!
Just in time for Halloween, HELLBILLY HOLLOW is taking its backwoods carnage from the big screen to your living room. The Southern slasher directed by Kevin Wayne and featuring rocker Kurt Deimer is available to rent or buy on TVOD starting October 27, 2026, with a DVD release for physical-media collectors.
Here’s the twist that grabbed my attention: the movie was shot entirely at the real Hellbilly Hollow haunted attraction in Vincent, Alabama. That’s right. The sets weren’t just designed to look like a haunted attraction. The filmmakers used the actual barns, hayride areas and scare zones as their playground.
A team of paranormal YouTubers heads into the Alabama woods to investigate the attraction on the night before Halloween. What starts as a content-creation adventure becomes a nightmare when they encounter two killer brothers: the childlike, disfigured clown Tickles, played by Wayne, and his manipulative caretaker Bull, played by Deimer. Look, if I see a clown named Tickles standing in the dark woods, I’m not asking for an interview. I’m leaving, papi! But horror characters never listen to me, and that’s why we have movies.
The production leans into carnival-style practical set pieces, including twisted takes on games such as Wack-a-Troll and High Striker. Mike Denard oversaw the attraction-inspired production design, while the soundtrack includes eight songs performed by Deimer and a score by drummer Roy Mayorga. Tom Boykin handles sound design.
There’s something fun about a slasher using an actual haunted attraction. Those spaces are already engineered to confuse your senses: strange lighting, narrow passages, sudden noises and that nagging feeling somebody is standing right behind you. Turn the staged danger into a real threat within the story and you’ve got a natural engine for suspense.
Wayne has described wanting a character-driven Southern horror film rather than one that relies entirely on jump scares and gore. Whether the finished film delivers on that ambition is something viewers can judge for themselves; this is release coverage, not a hands-on review.
The cast also includes Danny Vinson, Sandra Ellis Lafferty, Megan Alexandrea Weaver, Hallie Shepherd, Trey Miller and Keller Fornes. Bernadette Chapman wrote the screenplay.

A real Alabama haunt, murderous siblings, rock-and-metal energy and old-school slasher chaos? That’s a Halloween-season combination worth checking out. Just don’t volunteer to be the last person on the hayride. WEPAAAA!
