Parasal Star | Gaming Crusaders Review
·Gabriel Mateo

Parasal Star is a small indie game built as a throwback to the classic Parasol Stars lineage, originally known as the third entry in the Bubble Bobble series. This version keeps the single‑screen platforming idea but simplifies it heavily. The game looks and sounds like something from the Game Boy Color era, with bright colors and upbeat retro music. That nostalgic style is the strongest part of the experience.
The gameplay centers on one action. You pick up enemies or objects and throw them. There are no upgrades or new abilities added over time. It’s a simple loop meant for short sessions. As a quick time‑killer, it works. As a full experience, it doesn’t offer much variety.

The visuals are colorful and clean, sticking closely to early handheld platformers. The music follows the same direction with light, cheerful loops. The game commits to its retro identity and stays consistent from start to finish.

The core mechanic is easy to understand and easy to play, but it doesn’t change. Encounters start to feel repetitive, especially when playing alone. The simplicity is intentional, but it limits how long the game stays engaging.
Strengths:
– Simple and accessible
– Works well in short bursts
– Couch co‑op adds energy
– Strong retro identity
Weaknesses:
– Very limited depth
– Repetitive encounters
– No progression
– Solo play loses momentum
As a modern take on the third Parasol Stars concept, this indie version keeps the basic idea but removes the layered mechanics the original was known for.
Co‑op is the best way to play. Throwing enemies and objects around the screen creates fun moments that don’t happen in solo play. It’s a solid pick for quick couch sessions. Solo play is fine but doesn’t stand out.

Parasal Star is a light, nostalgic indie game that delivers a simple retro experience. It’s colorful, easy to jump into, and works well for short sessions. It’s also limited and repetitive, so it won’t hold your attention for long. Players looking for depth may want more, but fans of retro throwbacks or casual co‑op will find something to enjoy.
