FANHOME UNLEASHES A MASSIVE 33-INCH SAURON BUILD-UP MODEL FOR LORD OF THE RINGS FANS

Okay, this is ridiculous in the best possible way. Fanhome is going full Dark Lord with a new build-up model of Sauron that stands a massive 33 inches tall when complete, because apparently a normal-sized shelf collectible just was not dramatic enough.

The officially licensed release recreates Sauron as he appears during the War of the Last Alliance in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, complete with full metal armor, helmet, adjustable fabric cape, the One Ring and a collection of weapons that includes a giant mace, sword and dagger. The whole thing is built from references tied to Weta Workshop’s original design assets, which is exactly what you want when the character’s armor is doing this much visual heavy lifting.

Fanhome is releasing the model as a subscription build, so collectors receive components over time and assemble the piece step by step. The company says all required tools are included, and each shipment is paired with an illustrated guide designed to make the build approachable even if you are not a hardcore model-builder.

The extras are where this starts turning into a full-on Middle-earth project. Subscribers also receive illustrated magazine content covering characters, locations, props and the filmmaking process, including behind-the-scenes material focused on Weta Workshop and the creative teams that designed the armor, creatures and environments that helped define Peter Jackson’s trilogy.

A premium subscription option adds an illuminated display base inspired by the cracked landscape of Mount Doom. Fanhome is also including bonus items at different stages of the subscription, including a die-cast Sauron helmet replica, art prints, a ceramic mug, tool kit and T-shirt.

At nearly three feet tall, this thing is not subtle. It is basically the collectible equivalent of walking into the room and announcing that Mordor has arrived. For Lord of the Rings fans with the space, patience and love for big display pieces, this one is going to be very hard to ignore.
