Benjamin Percy and Raúl Fernández reinvent the alien-invasion story through the eyes of its mysterious visitor in Mad Cave Studios’ twisted new sci-fi horror series

Mad Cave Studios is cracking open EGG HUNT, a four-issue sci-fi horror series from bestselling writer Benjamin Percy (The End Times, Wolverine, Punisher), artist Raúl Fernández (Profane, Terrors Through Time), colorist Giada Marchisio, and letterer Micah Myers. The terrifying hunt begins when EGG HUNT #1 invades comic shops on November 18, 2026.

The story unfolds on Easter Sunday in a quiet Midwestern suburb. Families gather for sunrise service, the Lord has risen, and something hungry has fallen from the sky.

Young Piper lives behind the picket fences with her mother, Tina, and her nasty stepfather, Don. When a mysterious visitor crash-lands in the surrounding woods, Piper discovers a creature just as frightened and displaced as she is. The world feels strange and dangerous to both of them, but as Piper’s family begins falling apart, this unlikely pair may become each other’s only chance at salvation. The big twist? Readers experience the invasion from the alien’s perspective.

“I’ve always loved stories that find a fresh way into a genre by experimenting with form,” Percy said. “In Egg Hunt, we’re reinventing the alien invasion story by changing the standard point of view: we’re always the alien. From the first page, when we observe an egg hatching from the inside, everything we learn about the characters, setting, and story comes from what the alien witnesses.”

Percy described the series as carrying the cinematic DNA of both Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter, with influences stretching from the emotional wonder of E.T. to the suburban terror of Halloween. That mixture promises a story capable of warming your heart before making it beat straight through your rib cage.

“Raúl Fernández took this visual constraint and ran with it,” Percy added. “He brought this world and its characters to life, especially Piper, and can make your heart hurt in one panel and race in the next. I loved working with him.”

Fernández was immediately pulled into the project’s strange collision of childhood vulnerability, cosmic mystery, government conspiracies, and creature-feature chaos.

“It’s been my privilege to be part of a project as unique as Egg Hunt,” Fernández said. “Ben created a sci-fi horror romp filled with mystery, conspiracies, and government operatives so rich I HAD to be a part of it. If we add the cutest character in comics, EVER, and, well, a ‘lovely’ creature who’s the center of our story, here’s my advice: just sit down, relax, and enjoy the ride with this very special series.”

Part alien-invasion thriller, part creature feature, and part suburban family nightmare, EGG HUNT brings first-contact terror crashing into the Midwest. Beneath all the cosmic horror sits the emotional story of a child desperately searching for safety inside a home already breaking apart.
