Eric Powell’s Appalachian Fantasy Epic Returns With Hillbilly: The Treason of Twelve-Toe Maggie

WEPA, Crusaders! Dark Horse Comics is dragging us deep into the haunted hills once again as Eisner Award–winning creator Eric Powell returns with Hillbilly: The Treason of Twelve-Toe Maggie, a brand-new three-issue arc and a perfect jumping-on point for new readers ready to meet Rondel, the wandering wielder of the Devil’s Cleaver.

Written and illustrated by Powell, the creator behind The Goon and Dr. Werthless, this new chapter takes place years after the Great Witch War, where legends still crawl through the mountains and old debts refuse to stay buried.

This time, Rondel is trying to save an old friend, but salvation comes with a nasty little catch — he finds himself bound to his former captor, the dangerous and mysterious Twelve-Toe Maggie. Now the big question is whether Rondel can break the magical tie that chains him to this twelve-toed witch, or whether the Devil’s Cleaver is about to become her weapon forever.
