FLARE LIGHTS UP THE G-MAN UNIVERSE IN SGT. FLAG #8 CROSSOVER

Heroic Publishing’s legendary goddess of light steps into Sgt. Flag’s world as two independent superhero universes collide in G-Man Comics’ August 2026 Kickstarter event.

Mi gente, independent comics are about to smash a couple of universes together, and this crossover has some real superhero history riding shotgun. G-Man Comics and Heroic Publishing are joining forces as Flare, one of Heroic Publishing’s most recognizable characters, makes her way into SGT. FLAG #8 for a special crossover adventure alongside Sgt. Flag.

Known throughout the Heroic Publishing universe as its shining goddess of light, Flare has spent decades battling evil, building a loyal following and establishing herself as one of the publisher’s signature heroes. She has headlined numerous editions of her own series while appearing throughout Heroic Publishing’s wider superhero line. Now, for the first time, she is crossing over into the G-Man Universe, bringing her powers, history and heroic pedigree into Sgt. Flag’s backyard.

“One of the most exciting things about independent comics is that creators and publishers can find new ways to surprise readers,” said Rik Offenberger, Editor-in-Chief of G-Man Comics. “Bringing Flare into Sgt. Flag is exactly that kind of opportunity. She’s an established superhero with a tremendous history, and putting her together with Sgt. Flag gives us a chance to tell a story that neither character could have in their own book.”

That team-up hits different when you look at the history behind both publishers. Heroic Publishing has been putting superheroes on the page since the late 1980s, building a universe populated by characters including Flare, Icicle, Lady Arcane, Liberty Girl and the League of Champions. Its books have remained rooted in classic superhero storytelling, with heroes trying to live up to the ideals their masks and powers are supposed to represent.

G-Man Comics has carved out its own lane with that same love for straight-up superhero adventure, developing a connected world through titles and characters including Sgt. Flag, Lynx, Simon N. Kirby: The Agent, Taranis the Thunderlord, First Guard and the Global G-Men. Put those two traditions together and you are not just tossing a guest star onto a cover for a quick pop. You are letting two independently built superhero mythologies shake hands, throw punches and see what happens next.

Inside SGT. FLAG #8, readers will discover what happens when Sgt. Flag’s mission intersects with Flare and the extraordinary abilities she brings into his world. The creative possibilities alone make this crossover a fun one, but Offenberger makes it clear that there is more happening here than a simple cameo designed to make collectors yell, “Yo, look who showed up!”

“Sgt. Flag has always been about action, adventure and the idea of what it means to be a hero,” Offenberger said. “Flare fits perfectly into that world. This isn’t just a guest appearance because we thought it would be cool, although it is definitely cool. There’s a story here, and we’re excited for readers to discover it.”

The crossover arrives as part of G-Man Comics’ August 2026 publishing event, which is already shaping up to be a major moment for the indie publisher. The campaign will also feature G-MAN COMICS 100!, a milestone special celebrating the publication of the company’s 100th comic book. Hitting triple digits as an independent publisher is no small flex, fam. In a business where keeping a superhero universe alive takes persistence, community support and more hustle than people outside comics usually realize, reaching issue number 100 across the line deserves its flowers.

Flare’s appearance gives that celebration an extra spark by connecting two superhero legacies that have each kept classic adventure comics alive outside the walls of the larger corporate publishers. Longtime Flare readers get to see their hero operating on unfamiliar turf, Sgt. Flag fans get an unexpected powerhouse entering the equation, and indie superhero readers get exactly the kind of crossover that makes shared-universe comics fun in the first place.

The crossover does not stop with SGT. FLAG #8, either. Sgt. Flag will also appear as part of FLARE ADVENTURES #33, further connecting the two worlds and giving readers another look at this new partnership between Heroic Publishing and G-Man Comics.

For fans who still love superheroes built around courage, action, colorful powers and characters who actually believe being heroic means something, this collaboration feels like both publishers looking across the indie-comics neighborhood and saying, “Yo, you wanna make something cool together?” No giant corporate event required.
