Cyberpunk 2077 Adds Dual-Wielding in Free Edgerunners 2 Update

Night City has another excuse to wreck your free time. CD PROJEKT RED has announced Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, a free update arriving October 22, 2026, with content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The headline additions include cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle. Two weapons, more chrome, another trip down the rabbit hole. That’s a dangerous invitation for anybody who thought they were finally done with this game.
The studio confirmed those features in its official REDstreams announcement, with a closer look scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at 11 a.m. Eastern / 8 a.m. Pacific. You can watch on YouTube, Twitch or Steam. The full breakdown is still ahead, so don’t start treating every fan wishlist like a patch note.
Here’s the platform detail worth getting straight before somebody gets unnecessarily heated: the October 22 release covers PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. CD PROJEKT RED says the Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow shortly, but hasn’t supplied an exact date. The official press announcement calls the update free. This isn’t a separately priced expansion announcement.
The timing puts the game and anime in the same conversation without requiring us to spoil either one. All ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 debuted on Netflix on October 20. The standalone series comes from CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER, with a new cast of characters exploring Night City. The game update will include anime-inspired content, though the studio hasn’t yet provided the complete item list or explained exactly how those additions fit into your existing save.
Dual-wielding is the hook that makes this more interesting than another batch of cosmetic goodies. A new way to fight could give returning players something to build around, while cyberware customization offers another reason to revisit their version of V. That’s the potential, not a hands-on verdict. We still need the presentation and official patch notes before judging how much these features change combat or how they work together.
For now, the move is simple: catch the October 21 reveal, then check the confirmed details before planning your next run. Night City doesn’t need much help convincing people to lose another weekend, and a free update with new combat options is a pretty effective sales pitch. FUEGO, provided the chrome delivers.
