WEPAAA! Somebody open the windows, crank the volume, and hide the furniture, because Amerakin Overdose just dropped “Oxygen,” and this thing does not come in quietly. It comes in like a warning siren strapped to a bulldozer.

Frontman Cody Perez describes “Oxygen” as a track about the dangerous illusion of dependency — that twisted belief that you cannot survive without someone or something, even when that very thing is tearing you apart from the inside.

That is the kind of theme that hits hard because, real talk, too many people know what it feels like to mistake poison for air. You cling to the thing that is killing you because somewhere along the line your heart, your mind, or your pain told you it was survival. “Oxygen” digs into that fight — the struggle to break free from what you thought you needed, only to realize freedom was the real breath you were chasing all along. The masked industrial/nu-metal wrecking crew is fired up to return to Rock Fest for the third time, and they are using the moment as a reason to hit cities they do not always get to crush live. The message from the band is simple: if they are anywhere within a couple of hours of you, make the drive.

Amerakin Overdose is not just another heavy band trying to look scary in a room full of fog machines. Nah, fam. This is a genre-bending, mask-adorned industrial/nu-metal force out of Portland, Oregon, known for explosive live shows, theatrical personas, crushing riffs, groove-heavy rhythms, electronic textures, and vocals that hit like somebody kicked open the emergency exit in your brain.

Drawing influence from bands like Korn, Slipknot, and Mudvayne, Amerakin Overdose takes the chaos, corruption, vanity, greed, and sickness of modern culture and turns it into a high-impact performance-art metal experience. Each member brings a character to life, warped by the very decay the band is calling out. That is not just music. That is a mirror with blood on it.

Since forming, Amerakin Overdose has released three full-length albums and carved out a reputation as a must-see live act, touring across the United States and sharing stages with major heavy hitters including Korn, Godsmack, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Chevelle, Shinedown, Lacuna Coil, Avatar, All That Remains, and Slaughter to Prevail.

They have also stormed major festivals including Rock Fest, Vans Warped Tour, The Gathering of the Juggalos, and Jamey Jasta’s Milwaukee Metalfest.

In July 2024, the band released their third album, Artificial Infection, pushing their sound into darker and more experimental territory. Since then, Amerakin Overdose has continued leveling up with producer Jonny Santos of Spineshank and Silent Civilian, who is producing their upcoming fourth album.

March 2025 brought their bold, twisted cover and video for Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle,” followed by the heavy-hitting single “Point of No Return” in May and “Nothing (Without You)” featuring Jonny Santos in July.

Then, because apparently holiday music needed a steel-toe boot to the chest, Amerakin Overdose dropped “Feliz Navidad” on November 28, 2025, produced by Jonny Santos and co-produced by Nikolas Roy Quemtri.

The band kicked off 2026 with the explosive single and video “Time Bomb,” featuring guest vocals from Tauren Blackman, released January 23. Then came a major artistic curveball on April 29 with “My Endless Battle,” the band’s first-ever acoustic song. The track, featuring Jonny Santos, also marked the rare sight of Amerakin Overdose performing unmasked in a video.

That song tackled mental health, survival, and the fight to keep going, reflecting Cody Perez’s own recovery journey and the message he continues to live by: Never give up.

Now with “Oxygen,” Amerakin Overdose keeps pushing forward — louder, darker, sharper, and more emotionally dangerous than ever.

This is metal. This is theater. This is survival noise for people who have been through the fire and came back with the scars, the rage, and the rhythm.
