Danny Blu Unleashes “Type” and Announces a Dark, Club-Ready New EP
The NYC electronic artist steps deeper into his dark pop era with a high-voltage single built on confidence, desire, bass, and beautiful chaos.
New York City electronic artist Danny Blu is not easing into his next era. He is kicking the door open, turning the lights red, cranking the bass, and letting everybody know exactly what type of artist he is becoming.
Blu has announced a new EP led by his latest single, “Type,” a pounding, high-octane track that captures the bold, sharp, and unapologetic energy at the center of this new project. The song marks the first taste of the EP and signals a major creative shift for Blu as he fully embraces the dark pop star identity that has been waiting in the wings. And trust me, this one is not playing cute!
The upcoming EP lives in a world built on rebellion, sex, manipulation, grief, passion, and reckless abandon. It pulls from queer techno, pop, club music, emo, house, and horror-soaked nightlife energy to create something loud, sweaty, theatrical, and dangerous in all the right ways. This is music made for the dance floor, the afterparty, the breakdown, and the comeback.
“Type” puts that mission front and center. Driven by a heavy bassline, razor-sharp attitude, and Blu’s confident vocal delivery, the track works as both a club anthem and a personal declaration. It is about knowing your power, owning your body, trusting your instincts, and stepping into the room like the fantasy and the threat all at once.
“TYPE was born out of a desire to embrace personal confidence,” Blu said. “At its core, TYPE is about power. And power is knowing how to use wit, intelligence, and sex to get what you want when you want it.”
That statement tells you everything you need to know. This is not just a song about being desired. It is about understanding desire as power. It is about control, confidence, and refusing to shrink yourself so other people can feel comfortable. Basically, it is giving “I know exactly who I am, and I brought choreography.”
For the project, Blu has brought in several producers, including Moris Blak and Brand0, with vocals produced by Ryan Schumer. All tracks are mixed by Thomas Warren and mastered by Mike Piacentini, giving the EP the polished, bass-heavy punch needed for a sound this aggressive and stylish.
The music will also be paired with a strong visual identity rooted in queer mythology, horror, supernatural creatures, sexuality, and movement. Expect drama. Expect darkness. Expect choreography. Expect the kind of visuals that do not politely ask for attention, they snatch it!
With “Type,” Danny Blu is making it clear that this new chapter is louder, sharper, and more fully realized. It is dark pop with teeth. It is club music with attitude. It is queer performance art with a pulse.
“Type” by Danny Blu arrives July 27.

DANNY BLU BIO:
Danny Blu is the sonic embodiment of rebellion—an NYC-based dark pop and industrial pop artist who blends theatrical visuals with unfiltered emotion. Known for his explosive live performances and genre-bending sound, Blu crafts cathartic anthems for the outcasts, the misfits, and anyone who’s ever felt too much.
A proud voice in the LGBTQ+ and alt music communities, Danny channels pain, power, and transformation into every lyric. From haunting synths to searing guitar lines, his music blurs the lines between industrial rock, synth-pop, and electronic chaos—drawing comparisons to artists like Poppy, Nine Inch Nails, Lady Gaga, and IAMX.
With songs that explore themes of identity, trauma, queerness, and rebirth, Danny Blu doesn’t just perform—he purges. His music is a battle cry against conformity and a celebration of beautiful defiance.
Having shared stages with artists across the alternative and underground music spectrum, Blu continues to carve his own space in the dark pop world—where intensity meets vulnerability, and the stage becomes a sanctuary.
