Infernal Hulk Kicks Off the Road to Hulk War by Putting Marvel’s Heroes on Demon Time
·Al Mega

The road to HULK WAR starts with claws, carnage, and zero chill as Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein’s nightmare-fueled Infernal Hulk saga explodes into a new run of INFERNAL HULK VS. one-shots, beginning this September with INFERNAL HULK VS. WOLVERINE #1.
WEPA, Marvel fans, lock the windows, reinforce the walls, and tell your pull list to start stretching, because this September, the march to HULK WAR officially begins and the Infernal Hulk is not coming to shake hands. He is coming to fold Marvel’s heroes like cheap lawn chairs at a Brooklyn block party.
Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein’s acclaimed Infernal Hulk run has already dragged Bruce Banner’s world into the horror zone, with the ancient evil known as the Eldest taking over Hulk’s body and turning the green goliath into something far nastier than your regular “he got mad and smashed a tank” situation. This ain’t just rage anymore. This is nightmare fuel with biceps.
All of that destruction is leading straight into HULK WAR, Marvel’s epic crossover event coming in early 2027. But before the big war arrives, the road gets ugly. Following Infernal Hulk #10 in August, the series mutates into a brutal lineup of INFERNAL HULK VS. one-shots, where the Father of Horrors starts throwing hands with some of Marvel’s biggest names while building an army of corrupted, monstrous champions known as the Infernal Avengers.
Written by Johnson, the one-shots begin in September with INFERNAL HULK VS. WOLVERINE #1, featuring art by Marvel’s Stormbreaker Jonas Scharf of Ultimate Endgame. From there, the smoke continues through December with INFERNAL HULK VS. FANTASTIC FOUR #1, INFERNAL HULK VS. SPIDER-MAN #1, and INFERNAL HULK VS. THE AVENGERS #1.
And here’s the wild part: each one-shot is promising a brutal victory. Not a close call. Not a “heroes regroup and learn a lesson” Saturday morning special. Nah, fam. Infernal Hulk is apparently stacking bodies and dragging the Marvel Universe one smash closer to being rebuilt in his twisted image.

THE MARCH TO HULK WAR RUNS THROUGH WOLVERINE!
When the X-Men discover the location of mutants who have been abducted and corrupted by Infernal Hulk, Wolverine does what Wolverine does best: he pops the claws and chooses violence like it owes him money. The deadliest X-Man sets out to free them by any means necessary, putting him face-to-face with the Father of Horrors himself.
That means the road to HULK WAR begins with one of comics’ most savage rivalries getting dragged into darker territory. Wolverine is Marvel’s perfect killing machine. Infernal Hulk is a corrupted engine of supernatural destruction. Somebody call the insurance company, because whatever battlefield these two touch is about to become rubble with dialogue balloons.
“MARCH TO HULK WAR kicks off the final act of our story that Nic Klein and I started with Incredible Hulk #1 in 2023,” Johnson explained. “It’s a series of one-shot battles between Infernal Hulk and Earth’s mightiest heroes, as Hulk gathers his terrifying Infernal Avengers for HULK WAR. The one-shots features one of the most epic rivalries in comics, INFERNAL HULK VS WOLVERINE, and an ending that I’m expecting to shock some people.”

“The most fun aspect of this series were rereading old Marvel battles, reminding myself what’s been done and how hard we’ve been willing to go in the past,” he continued. “Be advised: there were discussions about how violent we could go with these one-shots. I want to keep ramping up the horror vibe of the Hulk series, and for our readers to see things in these one-shots they’ve never seen before. On both counts, I promise we’ll deliver.”
So yeah, Marvel is not playing cute with this one. They’re leaning into the horror, the violence, the emotional stakes, and the kind of comic book chaos that makes longtime fans sit up like, “Oh, we outside outside.”
Editor Mark Paniccia is backing that energy all the way up.
“An absolute knockout of a fight comic with unrelenting action, real emotional stakes, and Phillip firing off twist after twist without ever letting the reader catch their breath,” Editor Mark Paniccia promises. “And Jonas’ art makes you literally feel each punch, kick, cut, slash and stab. Just a savage issue!”
Fans can check out Nic Klein’s INFERNAL HULK VS. WOLVERINE cover, along with variant covers by Juan Ferreyra and Ryan Stegman. Marvel is also rolling out an INFERNAL HULK VS. checklist so readers can keep track of every fight on the road to war.

Preorder the one-shots at your local comic shop and prepare accordingly. Because if Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine is only the first stop, then HULK WAR is already looking like a full-blown Marvel horror brawl with no brakes, no mercy, and absolutely no chill. For more information, visit Marvel.com.
