BUZZ or DIE Turns Death Row Into a Viral Game Show in 2026

Going viral has never had higher stakes. BUZZ or DIE, a dark sci-fi visual novel from solo developer Bon, is coming to PC in 2026 with Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab publishing the game.
The setup is viciously simple: death-row inmates are thrown into a nationally televised game show where survival depends on audience approval. Contestants dig through an opponent’s past, search their memories for scandal, then package the ugliest discoveries into short-form content built to rack up likes. Win the popularity war and earn a pardon plus one wish. Lose, and the execution becomes part of the broadcast.
Players will investigate conversations, memories and personal histories before choosing how to frame that information for maximum impact. The game’s point-and-click structure turns editing, headline choices and thumbnail-style presentation into part of the competition, making the social-media satire inseparable from the actual gameplay.

The cast includes criminals with wildly different backgrounds, from a former comedian turned bomber to a genius hacker, a revolutionary and a chef with a taste for people. Bon describes the project as deliberately outrageous on the surface, but says there is far more depth behind its characters and premise than the game initially reveals.
Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab is backing the project as part of its ongoing support for independent developers. The Steam page lists English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese language support and confirms a 2026 release window.
BUZZ or DIE is currently in development for PC. If dystopian reality television, cyberpunk satire and morally messy character drama sound like your kind of chaos, this one is worth keeping on the radar.
